5 Runs in Far Away Places

We finally made it out of the country for the first time in 2.5 years, and man was it fun to take some early morning runs in new places. The season was just turning from summer to fall and you can see the temperature drop as September marched along.

This map is not fictional, but instead uses real data collected by my Nike Run app, then visualized using QGIS and Adobe Illustrator.

First up was London. The highlight of the run was not getting run into the water by speeding bikes along the canal.

Next was Bergen. Who can avoid the opportunity to run along a fjord?

I had the Frognerparken to myself at 7am. We returned later in the day and the place was totally mobbed. Early bird gets the worm in Norway apparently.

Our visit to Edinburgh coincided with the Queen’s funeral procession through the city. It was a surreal experience to have portions of the “parade” route to myself, except for stern looking police officers every 100 feet or so.

This was the second canal run of the trip and generally much less perilous than London. Glasgow rocked.
